I
choose a life at sea because I love the challenge. I love to travel, meet people, expand
my knowledge of the world and the human condition as deeply as possible,
and I love the sea.
I have a very positive attitude about work, life, and people. To a fault, I strive to be the very best at whatever I do. I take pride in my careful attention to detail, strong internal initiative, flexibility, tireless patience, and steadfast sense of responsibility. I am principally based, honest, an excellent manager of time, and particularly resilient to stress. I am dedicated to lifelong learning and am always searching for opportunities to pass on what I know. I excel in both team and individual situations and am equally comfortable in social and/or solitary settings.
Over 10 years ago I consciously began my career as a deck hand. I did so with a strong belief in the importance for an aspiring Master such as myself to gain experience from the perspectives of as many crewing positions as possible so that when the time to take command arose, I would be more fully aware of the abilities and limitations of a working crew. Now, as a licensed Master, I am more than ever an enthusiastic advocate of this type of experience-based career progression.
I am working on progressing through the MCA ranks with the eventual goal of obtaining an MCA Master of Yachts 3000gt Unlimited license.
